We congratulate Vermont for leading the way on GMO labeling!
The Vermont Legislature just passed a bill to label genetically engineered foods and ingredients without any contingencies on other states passing similar legislation.
This brings Vermont one-step closer to being the first state to enact legislation that will require GE labeling.
Vermont House of Reps voted 99 to 42 to approve the bill.
The bill will be headed to Governor Peter Shumlin’s desk and once he signs it will require that food sold in VT, that is genetically engineered, to be labeled starting in July 2016.
California, when will you be next?
