The concert will feature Chuck Manning, a veteran of the Los Angeles jazz scene, on tenor saxophone, joined by Theo Saunders on piano, Mike Gurrola on bass, and Roy McCurdy on drums. These musicians, all long-time players in the local jazz community, will showcase their mastery of jazz improvisation and ensemble interaction, delivering a program that explores the essence of jazz as a living, temporal art form.
The event is free to attend, and parking is also complimentary, making it accessible for jazz enthusiasts of all ages. The performance is part of an ongoing effort to bring live, professional jazz music to Altadena and its surrounding communities.
Local residents may recognize many of the musicians for their extensive contributions to the local music scene. Besides their jazz work, many are also active classical performers, collaborating with prominent ensembles such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Chamber Orchestra, and Pasadena Symphony, among others.
This afternoon of jazz promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for music lovers in Altadena and beyond.
