Three years ago, a dream began – a vision of reenergizing a love of baseball in the Altadena community.
By Diane Orona
This dream was built on a love for the game and good sportsmanship. Now, Altadena can be proud of its winning team – Central Altadena Little League 50/70 Yankees brought home the District 17 banner! Under the guidance of Coach Rich Conte, the team beat out the other competition and brought home the gold – a historic win!
When reached by Colorado Boulevard, Coach Conte said: “This talented group of kids has been playing together now for the last 4 seasons year roun’, thanks to our amazing Central Altadena Little League and the fantastic Altadena Baseball Academy. I have had the honor of coaching them, watching their hard work on and off the field turn these guys into great people and champions as well.” He added: “This is a community effort, driven by supportive families and dedicated coaches. Truly my experience with this group has been beyond memorable, so much fun!” Coach Conte concluded by saying: “Sky is the limit for this group!”
The Altadena Town Council will be recognizing this outstanding team at its June 18 meeting. We are proud of our athletes and their love of the game, especially their demonstration of true sportsmanship.
GO, 50/70 YANKEES!
