The Justice for Renters Act, that will allow for rent control in California, will be Proposition 33 on the November 2024 ballot.

On Wednesday, July 3, California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber’s office formally released its list of ballot numbers assigned for qualified initiatives that will appear on the November ballot. Justice for Renters, recently endorsed by the California Democratic Party, becomes Yes on Prop 33.
The Justice for Renters Act is just 23 words: “The state may not limit the right of any city, county, or city and county to maintain, enact or expand residential rent control.” If Proposition 33 passes, it would remove California’s statewide rent control ban and give local communities the right to stabilize rents.
