Construction is underway to convert a vacant storefront at 110 East Broadway in Glendale to be Antaeus Theatre Company’s new cultural arts center.
When complete, the refurbished space — which has stood empty for more than a decade — will house an 80-seat theater and a 45-seat “black box,” as well as a lobby gallery and a classics library. A new production of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof has been announced to inaugurate Antaeus’ first season in its new space.
David Gindler, chairman of the Antaeus board of directors, said:
We are well on our way to reaching our overall goal of raising $3 million,” added . That amount will not only cover the cost of completing construction, but will position Antaeus to expand its programming, as well as our acting academy, educational outreach and community engagement programs. We are very excited about joining the Glendale community, which a number of our company members call home, and hope the community will partner with us to reach our $3 million goal.
No one will ever be turned away
According to Gindler, “No one will ever be turned away from our theater because they cannot afford the price of a ticket. We will always find a way to make sure that everyone will have the opportunity to experience intimate theater performed by some of the finest actors on stage and screen.”
