The Anne Frank House and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco bring the story of Anne Frank, a mobile educational exhibition on Anne’s life, to high schools on the US West Coast.

      By Felita Kealing

Marshall Fundamental Secondary School is one of the schools selected locally to host “Anne Frank – A History for Today” mobile exhibition. The story of Anne Frank has inspired millions of people around the world, and is still relevant today. It’s a story of discrimination and exclusion, but also one of hope and determination.

      Mobile exhibition

The mobile exhibition generates more awareness for students, parents and educators about the Holocaust and human rights. Student trained docents will guide viewers through thirty panels of photographs that will tell the story of Anne’s life beginning in Germany and the rise of the Nazis coming into power, to her life in the secret annex and how those in hiding were betrayed and arrested.

A select group of students in grades six through ten were nominated by staff members to receive two days of special docent training by the “Anne Frank House” in order to guide their fellow students and the public through the exhibition. These students also received a special invitation from the Consulate General of the Netherlands to attend the opening reception for the Los Angeles launch of the exhibition at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust.

Middle and high school student docents:
      Natalie Bayrakdarian (10th)
      Jeannine Briggs (9th)
      Trinity Dela Cruz (7th)
      Hannah Moss (10th)
