In the face of profound challenges, Altadena refuses to be silenced. The 4th Annual Altadena Pride Walkabout will take place on Saturday, June 14, with a renewed emphasis on the community’s core values of resilience, resistance, and joy.

The celebration begins at 3:00 pm at the Altadena Main Library and will proceed as planned, offering a powerful response to both natural calamity and ongoing national attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“Despite recent tragedy, Altadena Pride will forge ahead,” said organizer Nic Arnzen, Town Council Member and LA County LGBTQ+ Commissioner.
The day opens with a ceremony on the library’s east lawn, where Supervisor Kathryn Barger will raise the Pride flag. Free Pride flags will be distributed to participants, with additional flags available throughout May at Webster’s Community Pharmacy.
At 3:30 pm, the Walkabout will guide attendees through Central Altadena, featuring symbolic stops at local businesses, a group photo at the “Welcome to Altadena” mural near Grocery Outlet, and a return to the library for an afternoon of festivities.
From 4:30 to 6:30 pm, the library grounds will host a Free Community Concert and Resource Fair, offering entertainment, support services, and community engagement. Inside the library, the Community Healing Sanctuary will provide a peaceful space for meditation, art, and spiritual reflection, guided by interfaith leaders. A separate Youth Sanctuary will offer a safe, engaging environment for young people through college age.
Organizers emphasize that each component of the day functions as a stand-alone event. Attendees are welcome to experience the entire afternoon or join for individual segments.
“This is a celebration of visibility, kindness, and community strength,” said Arnzen. “It is especially vital now, as our LGBTQ+ family—particularly our Transgender community—continues to face attacks, and as displacement and marginalization affect our Black, Brown, and undocumented neighbors.”
All events, including food, activities, and resources, are free of charge. Surprise guests and speakers are expected throughout the day.
