In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park will host a special series of cultural workshops led by Councilwoman Neminski and Councilwoman Murillo of the Gabrielino/Tongva Nation.

The series invites community members of all ages to learn about traditional crafts and the cultural heritage of the region’s First People.
The celebration begins on Saturday, November 1, with a Cloth Medicine Bag Workshop from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Participants ages 10 and up will learn to create their own cloth medicine bags under the guidance of the Gabrielino/Tongva councilwomen.
On Saturday, November 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, attendees ages 8 and up can join a Beaded Wire Wrap Bracelet Class, exploring traditional beading techniques and the significance of adornment in Native culture.
The series concludes on Saturday, November 22, with a Pine Needle Basket Medallion Workshop, also from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Participants ages 8 and up will learn the intricate art of pine needle weaving to create a unique basket medallion.
All workshops will take place at the Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park. These events offer a meaningful way for the community to connect with Native American culture, creativity, and history through hands-on learning and shared traditions.
