The future dog park will be located near the former “Paw-Pup Dog Park” pilot project area, next to the Alhambra Golf Course.
“The Alhambra City Council is thrilled to see this initiative advancing,” said Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez. “Alhambra residents have long expressed their desire for a permanent dog park, particularly following the success of our pilot program. Now, we are able to make this a permanent feature for our residents and their furry friends!”
In 2023, the City of Alhambra hosted a temporary pilot “Paw-Pup Dog Park” for two months. As part of the program, the community was invited to provide input regarding interest in a permanent dog park through a survey, which earned over 1300 responses with about 99% of participants in favor of a permanent installation.
City staff is seeking professional engineering and design services to provide plans and specifications for the Alhambra Dog Park Project. Anticipated dog park amenities includestrees, synthetic turf, walking paths, a restroom facility for the canines’ escorts, secure double fencing, benches, shade structures and dog play features.
Proposals for the engineering and design services RFP are due to the Parks and Recreation Department no later than 5 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024.
