Scheduled for one of the longest days of the year, Active Streets | Mission-at-Twilight will create 5 miles of car-free streets on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The free, family-friendly event will be the first ‘twilight’ open streets event in the SGV.

      By Wesley Reutimann

From 3:00 – 8:00 pm, the public will be able to explore the historic San Gabriel and South Pasadena Mission Districts and downtown Alhambra on foot, bike, skate, scooter, or active mode of mobility.

Following the traditional “Mission-to-Mission” route, the event will feature three activity hubs with live music, play zones for kids of all ages, a diverse array of food and beverages, and community groups. Other highlights will include inflatable obstacle courses in South Pasadena, carnival games in San Gabriel, e-bike test ride zones in San Gabriel and South Pasadena, and giant games in Alhambra. A one mile fun run/walk will start from the South Pasadena Hub at 2:30 pm. A full list of event activities can be found here.

“ActiveSGV is excited to once again partner with the the cities of San Gabriel, Alhambra, and South Pasadena, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, and Metro Los Angeles to bring open streets to the community,” shared ActiveSGV Program Director Danielle Zamora. “We look forward to seeing residents and visitors alike exploring the 5-mile route and experiencing the benefits of more people-friendly streets.”

“We’re excited to celebrate 10 years of open streets events in the SGV, thanks to the support and partnership of Metro. Over the last decade, the Open Streets series has been a cornerstone of the San Gabriel Valley community. This summer, we’re excited to introduce a new twist with the Mission-to-Twilight event, giving SGV families the unique opportunity to enjoy this experience under the stars,” said Tim Hepburn, President of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. “We’re proud to host this regional event and grateful to our member cities for continuing to prioritize these events and for encouraging more sustainable, people-centered modes of transportation. This is how we change the culture and mindset of mobility across LA County.”

Participants can attend the event via the Metro Rail (A Line, Mission Station), which provides direct access to the South Pasadena Activity Hub. Children four or under ride free on Metro buses and trains. Bikes and scooters may be brought on board at no extra cost.

The day will kick-off with a special Opening Ceremony at 3:00 pm in front of the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse with local dignitaries, including Gabe the Sasquatch! More event info can be found at activestreets.org.

What will you be doing to protect attendees from ICE? I’m not just talking about undocumented people. They’re terrorizing and arresting everyone.
