Officers from the Alhambra Police Department responded to a burglary call early Saturday, May 25, near the intersection of Main Street and Chapel Avenue after a black van reversed into a local storefront, shattering glass and triggering alarms.

A witness reported seeing two male suspects fleeing the scene southbound on Chapel Avenue, each carrying a plastic bin. Officers quickly canvassed the area and located two individuals matching the description near Chapel Avenue and Bay State Street. Both were detained without incident.
Upon searching the suspects, police found evidence linking them to the crime: one had shards of broken glass embedded in his shoe, while the other carried a headlamp and a pair of gloves—items commonly associated with burglary tools.
Further investigation revealed the black van used in the smash-and-grab had been reported stolen out of Carson, CA.
The suspects, both juveniles from Compton, were arrested and booked into the Alhambra Police Department Jail.
“They came in like a wrecking ball, literally,” APD said in a statement. The incident remains under investigation.
