      Alhambra Library will host a Plant Swap on November 26 from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm at 101 South First Street, Alhambra. Bring a plant, take a plant; bring your seedlings, divisions, or cuttings to swap with other gardeners. All types of plants are welcome: succulents, house plants, flowers, ground covers, or wild grasses. Bring cuttings, starts, bulbs, or full-sized plants. Label your plants prior to bringing them to the swap.

      Altadena

      Enjoy Altadena’s annual Sip & Shop at Mariposa Junction as it goes “Country Western” on December 6 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Mariposa Street and Lake Avenue. Designed to promote and support local businesses while offering a festive shopping and social experience, the event will feature a variety of vendors, art, a Kids Korner, food, and live performances by the Sharron Moore Band and Josh Harp.

      La Crescenta-Montrose

      Experience the 46th annual Montrose Christmas Parade starting at 6:10 pm on December 7. A family-focused parade, more than 150 community service and youth groups, drill teams, and bands from surrounding cities participate in the parade each year. Enjoy a fly-by with Santa Claus in one of Glendale’s finest police helicopters. The parade staging starts at La Crescenta Avenue and Honolulu Ave. The parade itself begins at Honolulu Avenue and Rosemont Avenue, and runs east to Verdugo Road. The center of the parade and the entire Montrose area is the intersection of Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard. Parking is available in the city parking lots that will be open (Glendale lots 1, 2, and 7 will be closed), on the open side streets, and within the surrounding neighborhoods. Arrive early to set up chairs and a blanket, and get some dinner in one of Montrose’s restaurants.

      Monterey Park

      The City of Monterey Park, in conjunction with the Farmer’s Market, is bringing back their Holiday Snow Village at Barnes Park, 350 South McPherrin Avenue, Monterey Park, on December 5 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Enjoy sled runs, snow play, photos with Santa and a delightful holiday train station. There will be something for everyone, with an array of entertainment, unique vendors, creative crafts, and exciting games to keep the festive spirit alive.

      Pasadena

      Older adults can give thanks together Thursday, Nov. 28, at noon at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St., Pasadena. The Scott Pavilion will be decorated with Thanksgiving and autumn décor. Diners will enjoy a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving turkey feast with all the gobbling good trimmings, in a fun and festive atmosphere with live music. Vegetarian options will be available.       San Gabriel

      Enjoy San Gabriel’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting with a Taste of San Gabriel on December 3 from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm at San Gabriel’s Mission District, 320 South Mission Drive, San Gabriel. Residents and their families can enjoy photos with Santa, mini train rides, and live entertainment. Entertainment will be provided by local groups such as the San Gabriel Marching Band and Community Services Classes. The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm followed by a visit from Santa. The popular “Taste of San Gabriel” will also return, with restaurants throughout San Gabriel offering free samples of their dishes. For more information, call (626) 308-2875.

      Join San Marino to kick off Home for the Holidays festivities on December 6 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on the corner of Huntington Drive and San Marino Avenue. Experience the warm holiday glow and pay tribute to the 72-year legacy of the beloved Holiday House Bus Shelter: A San Marino Tradition. Get ready for an enchanting moment as Santa makes his grand entrance aboard the fire truck. Gather around while eagerly awaiting the countdown to illuminate the holiday tree, then indulge in delicious cookies and hot cocoa while getting crafty with a fun holiday activity.       South Pasadena

      Lego Day

      Families are invited to participate in the South Pasadena Library’s LEGO® Free Play program, which will be held in the Community Room on Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Children will have an opportunity to use their imaginations and apply science, math, and engineering to create with LEGO® blocks at this free play event. Preschoolers, 3 years-old and younger, will build with Duplos®, larger blocks that are more easily manipulated by small hands. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
