A special local history night at Vroman’s Bookstore will feature local author and journalist Michele Zack in conversation with Michelle Huneven about Zack’s book, Altadena: Between Wilderness and City, on Monday, February 16, at 7:00 pm. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

      By Melanie Hooks

Over twenty years ago, the Altadena Historical Society commissioned noted journalist, historian, and Altadena resident Michele Zack to write the history of Altadena. The book received an Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010 and earned high praise from scholars.

Now the Society is reissuing the book in celebration of its 90th anniversary in substantial hardcover edition that features historical and enhanced photographs and illustrations, many of which were reproduced for the first time in the original printing. It has been updated to include the Eaton Fire.

It is more than 20 years since Altadena was published. Please correct your headliine, which says 10th Anniversary, though you have it correct in body copy.
