2025 Pasadena Black History Festival Set for February 15, Parade Event Canceled

Instead, the festival will center on supporting the recovery of the community in the wake of the ongoing tragedy. Pixie Boyden, Co-chair of the Planning Committee, expressed that the event’s focus will be on bringing resources together to aid those in need while offering a sense of joy during this challenging time. “The Altadena/Pasadena community is stronger than the current circumstances it faces, and while it will take time to heal, we hope to support its progress towards recovery,” Boyden said.

Performers who were originally scheduled for the parade will now have the opportunity to showcase their talents at Robinson Park between 10:00 am and 11:30 am, followed by festival activities throughout the day until 3:00 pm. All festival activities will be free of charge and include entertainment, family-friendly activities, and community resources.

Out of respect for local car and bike clubs, the annual car show has been postponed, as many participants have suffered damage or destruction to their vehicles. The Planning Committee and City of Pasadena hope to continue the tradition in future celebrations.

Vendor applications are encouraged, though the sale of items will not be permitted this year. The Committee is seeking vendors who can provide public assistance or services to address community needs. While food will be available free of charge, food vendors interested in contributing to addressing food insecurity are encouraged to register.
