On Sunday, May 19, 2024, almost 200 Pasadena Unified School District graduating seniors and their families were honored at the annual Latin Grad Celebration hosted at John Muir High School.

The annual event returned after four years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was sponsored by PADRES parent group in collaboration with the Pasadena Unified School District, local dignitaries, and City of Pasadena Departments.
The afternoon of celebrations began with the Aztec Dance group Yankuititl, followed by multiple serenades by Mariachi Contreras de Tecalitlan performing together with the Pasadena High School Orchestra, Eliot Arts Magnet Mariachi students, international Soprano Angel Ng, and Emmy Nominated Artist Stephanie Amaro. The highlight of the event was the student recognitions, where PUSD graduating seniors were recognized, bequeathed a graduation stole, and essay winners were awarded laptops.
Among the dignitaries present were Congresswoman Judy Chu, Mayor Victor M. Gordo, Councilmember Justin L. Jones, PUSD Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco and PUSD Board of Education members. The celebrations came to a close with a performance by Pasadena High School Orchestra directed by Dr. Anne Rardin with their rendition of Guadalajara. Graduates and their families partook in a celebration of international music, inspirational speeches, and incredible food by PADRES and the Pasadena Job Center.
