Public Edible Garden
Seed Swap and Seedling Project
Organized by: Transition Pasadena.
Volunteers are needed to help start a new public edible garden. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this project as the garden will be free and open to all.
Two different activities are planned for this event and everyone can participate in one or both:
1- Seed Swap. Volunteers are needed to bring seeds to share with others. By swapping, you end up taking some seeds and leaving some for others to take. Please bring envelopes for the new seeds that you will be taking home (envelopes will also be available on site for 10 cents each.)
2- Seedlings. Volunteers are needed to watch seeds grow. Lightweight seed-starting soil will be given away and people are asked to sprout certain seeds at home. Then, when those seeds are seedlings we ask that they be brought back to plant into the garden.
The Public Edible Garden will be outside the soon-to-open Arroyo Food Co-op next to the street and the sidewalk. Transition Pasadena (TransitionPasadena.org) has taken over the transformation of the space as a placemaking project. Placemaking is the simple idea of transforming public spaces to make them more welcoming and better for peoples’ health and happiness.
