Why Is a Local Pasadena Newspaper Making a Presidential Endorsement?

In a time when national newspapers are balking at making Presidential Endorsements, we find ourselves obliged to make an endorsement, especially because our online edition has the potential to reach beyond our local geographical coverage.

We’re making our endorsement based on one criterion: Candidate Quality.

Harris: The rule of law is central to preserving democracy as we know it.
T.: “Dictator for a day” candidate said he would “terminate” the Constitution.

T.’s longest serving Chief of Staff (and four star general) John Kelly said T. fit the classic definition of a fascist.

Many lifelong Republicans and T. administration officials agreed with Kelly, including:

• Kevin Carroll, former senior counselor to Kelly;
• former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews;
• former assistant secretary of homeland security Elizabeth Neumann;
• former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci;
• former chief of staff at the Dept. of Homeland Security Miles Taylor;
• former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham;
• former press secretary to the vice president Alyssa Farah Griffin; and
• former national security adviser to former Vice President Pence, Olivia Troye.

T.’s promise to be a dictator for a day must be taken at face value. Character counts. Unfit, corrupt, and crooked politicians must never be the norm.

We endorse Kamala Harris!

Our endorsement is our way to support an informed and active democracy.

Your vote is the vehicle to sustaining democracy. Use your vote wisely. Make it transcend party lines for the betterment and survival of our nation.
