The first doses of COVID vaccines (82,875 doses to be exact) were delivered to L.A. County on Monday, December 14, 2020. But what about Pasadena?
By News Desk
Because Pasadena has its own Heath Department, it was not included in L.A. County’s initial shipment. According to the California Department of Public Health’s allocation guidelines, Phase 1a (high-risk healthcare or long-term care workers and residents of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities), Pasadena has been allocated 1,950 doses. The Pfizer vaccine is expected to be delivered directly to Huntington Hospital at the end of next week.
Most Pasadena’s nursing homes are enrolled in the Federal Pharmacy Partnership. The CDC allocates vaccine directly to CVS and Walgreens, which will in turn be sending teams into nursing homes to vaccinate (timeline determined by CDC). “Future phases will be determined by CDC and CDPH, and we will update the public as we learn more,” said Lisa Derderian, Pasadena’s spokesperson.
