Pasadena residents and businesses are reminded that City Hall and many City services will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will continue to provide patrol, jail, fire, paramedic, and all other emergency services. Residents should call 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies. For non-emergency situations, the Pasadena Police Department can be reached at (626) 744-4241. The Police Department’s records section will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 20.
City Council will not meet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, Jan. 26.
Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) will continue to respond to emergencies. Residents experiencing power emergencies should call (626) 744-4673, while water-related emergencies should be reported to (626) 744-4138. PWP’s Customer Service Call Center will be closed, but customers may access accounts and make payments by phone at (626) 744-4005 or online at PWPweb.com.
The Municipal Services Payment Center, City Service Center, and Parking Office will be closed. Trash, recycling, and yard waste will be collected as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 19, with no changes to regular pickup days throughout the week.
All parking meters will be free, and parking time limits will not be enforced on the holiday. However, violations for overnight parking, red curb parking, “No Parking” zones, and blocking fire hydrants will still be enforced. Regular parking enforcement resumes Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The Permit Center will be closed for in-person services, though limited services will remain available through Permit Center Online. Subtrade permits may be obtained online, and plans for commercial tenant improvements and accessory dwelling units can be submitted. In-person operations resume Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride buses will operate on regular weekday schedules on Monday, Jan. 19.
All Pasadena Public Library locations will be closed Sunday and Monday, Jan. 18 and 19, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 20.
City parks will remain open for public use, including picnics and recreational activities, though no site reservations will be accepted for the holiday. Community and recreation centers will be closed.
The Pasadena Public Health Department will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 20. The department encourages residents to take precautions against respiratory viruses, including masking indoors, staying up to date on vaccinations, and remaining home when sick.
