Ever wonder what’s happening to one of Sierra Madre’s most cherished institutions, the Public Library and its building?
At 6:30 pm on Wednesday, November 20th, at the Hart Park House, residents will have the opportunity to learn about plans for a new Sierra Madre Public Library.
Next fifty years
City Librarian, Christine Smart, has been guiding the process of envisioning a place that’s big and modern enough, as well as flexible enough to serve the Sierra Madre community for the next fifty years. The plan is to create a 21st century library, with community meeting rooms, comfortable reading spaces and rooms for people to learn about emerging technologies.
Progress and feedback
A lot of progress has been made, and residents will get the chance for the first time to see the exterior of the building, and experience a 3D rendering. As volunteers have spent countless hours dreaming, designing and planning the new community asset, the meeting will serve as an opportunity for the residents of Sierra Madre to make their opinion heard at the public forum.
This forum is important as it will be the final stage in development before the project is submitted to the Sierra Madre City Council.

The proposed circulation plan makes NO sense. As for the elevator, you must walk around the room to get to it. This is a very amateur plan.
