      PASADENA – ColoradoBoulevard.net:

SoCal’s Tail Town Cat Café wants you to select their next Catnip Monarch. The winning Cat will be crowned by the Tournament of Roses Rose Court, and will rule over all others at the quirky Pasadena Cat Café throughout 2025.

      By News Desk

Pasadena-based Tail Town Cat Café, the largest nonprofit cat café in Southern California, has announced that voting is open for the public to choose which of six rescue cats will be named as Catnip Queen or King in their second annual Kitty Catnip Court festivities.

The Court and coronation event are Tail Town’s holiday tradition spotlighting wonderful, adoption-ready cats who have waited a little too long for their furever homes. The playful ceremony invites our community to choose who will take the title of royalty and act as ambassador for adoptions for the year to come. Voting, as well as reservations to attend the crowning at Tail Town Cat Café in person, can be done at this link.

Vote before midnight on December 13

Voting for the Catnip Royalty will remain open until 11:59 pm on Friday, December 13, and can be done in-person by visiting the Tail Town Cat Café as well as online at tailtowncats.com.

Royal Guests at Crowning on December 14

Crowning of the Catnip Royalty is set for the 2 – 3pm hour on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Tail Town with the help of very special royal guests…the 2025 Rose Court from the Tournament of Roses. Last year the Kitty Catnip Queen Eleven was crowned by the 2024 Tournament of Roses Queen and her Court. Queen Eleven was adopted with her brother Mike earlier in 2024.

Overseen by Court Chaperone Emeritus Miss Yvonne, the six Court members (with their winnings wishes) include:

      • Libby – “With my winnings I’d take a long staycation where I can finally relax and work on my Animal Crossing Village. I need to get that golden fishing pole and start collecting flowers. That stinky Tom Nook keeps holding me back!”
      • Trinket – “I’m really into potlucks as a thing, casseroles, dump cakes, pasta bakes…any kind of dish bake that you can share with large crowds. More of that please!”
      • Earl Grey – “My dream would be to open a rage room for cats, where we can finally destroy anything and everything we want. Lampshades, antique upholstery, rugs – you name it and we’ll barf on it!”
      • Desiree – “Now I live in a commune with 40 other cats — I’m gonna take my winnings, put on my high heels and get the heck outta here!”
      • Gingko – “First, I’ll take a year off to travel and become versed in the ways of the world. study International Feline Law, focus on my cat-coin start-up, and open a feline sound bath/yoga studio in Boulder, CO. You know, just to get started…”
      • Gummi Bear – “This one time, someone shared a piece of cheese with me — I mean they dropped it on the floor, and I ate it. I think of that as the best day of my life. I wish I could be a piece of cheese. That would be amazing.”

      Tail Town

In addition to time in the cat lounge, Tail Town has weekend adoptions events in the lobby, and afterhours events where visitors can do a fun activity surrounded by cats.  The Center is located at 1780 E. Washington Blvd in Pasadena, and is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (with the last entry each day at 4:00 pm). Sixty-minute cat passes are available for lounge visits, with reservations online or available in-person.
