Volunteers Needed for Union Station’s Thanksgiving “Dinner in the Park”

Volunteer registration for Union Station Homeless Services’ annual Dinner in the Park opens on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 9:00 am.

For over 50 years, thousands of volunteers have helped prepare and serve meals to all who are hungry at Pasadena’s Central Park on Thanksgiving Day. This year’s Dinner in the Park will be different, but just as impactful for those in need. To adhere to COVID-19 safety measures, the event format has been adapted to include complete takeaway meals for families and individuals to cook or heat up at home, and private sit-down dinners at Adult Center, Centennial Place, and the Family Center on Thanksgiving Day.

To ensure the health and safety of clients, staff, and volunteers, there will be a reduced number of volunteer opportunities available for Dinner in the Park. Volunteer spots are available on a first-come basis.

• Purchase ingredients for Thanksgiving “All the Fixings” Meal Boxes
  For clients who have access to a kitchen and want to cook their own meal, you can help Union Station create Thanksgiving “All the Fixings” Meal Supply Boxes, filled with all the ingredients needed for a delicious meal. Boxes come complete with tips from Food Services staff. Check out the Dinner in the Park Wishlist
• Host a Food Drive
  To be able to provide Thanksgiving meals, Union Station is in critical need of meal ingredients and supplies for packaging and serving. You can shop directly from Union Station’s Amazon Wishlist or host a Food Drive of your own.
• Donate or Sponsor
  Corporate and community partners can help end hunger and homelessness in our community. There are a variety of sponsorship and underwriting opportunities available. Join Dinner in the Park’s presenting sponsor, SoCal Gas, in helping to feed and rebuild the lives of our neighbors this Thanksgiving.
