      PASADENA – ColoradoBoulevard.net:

Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) will announce the winners of the innovative #VaccinatePasadena Video Contest during a ceremony at Day One (175 N. Euclid Ave.),on Thursday, April 28, at 5:30 pm.

      By News Desk

Launched this past February, the contest gave Pasadena students ages 4-24 (grades TK-college) the opportunity to submit artwork or share a short video on TikTok or Instagram with a powerful and positive COVID-19 vaccine message. PPHD used print and digital media ads in English and Spanish to promote the contest.

Thirty-seven students from 20 different schools across Pasadena entered the contest to educate their peers about the benefits of choosing vaccination. They also countered misinformation and myths that have prevented some from protecting themselves and their families with vaccination. Students competed in different grade categories—elementary school, middle school, high school and college—for a chance to win gift cards ranging from $75 to $1,500 for their team and school. Awards were funded by a grant through L.A. Care Health Plan.

Dr. Ying-Ying Goh, Pasadena Public Health Department director and health officer, said:

COVID-19 has dramatically impacted kids and young adults on a personal level. The #VaccinatePasadena Video Contest gave students a creative way to share with peers and others in the community how vaccination has renewed their sense of hope and optimism for the future. We can’t wait to showcase the winners and share their entries.

After the awards ceremony on April 28, the winning entries will be posted to the City’s #VaccinatePasadena Video Contest webpage and shared on the City’s social media channels.
