Alison Arngrim’s act is centered around her role as Nellie Oleson on “Little House On The Prairie.” Although I had no prior knowledge of the show, Arngrim’s performance captivated me.
Arngrim effortlessly combines entertainment with information, sharing anecdotes about her unique childhood in an energetic manner. Her stories pull the audience in, creating a shared experience. You don’t have to be a fan of “Little House” to get a lot out of this show.
From the moment Arngrim stepped on stage, her charisma and engaging greeting captured the audience’s attention. The act, containing strong language suitable for adults, had moments that had me nearly in tears from laughter.
Arngrim skillfully includes everyone in her audience, addressing both “Little House” fans and those less acquainted with the show. Her bold and unapologetic approach is evident, and she embraces the label of being a “bitch,” turning it into a powerful and resourceful character trait.
At 62, Arngrim proudly acknowledges her age, incorporating it into her act. She defies societal expectations, acknowledging the bitchy character she portrayed while maintaining a likable demeanor. Her authenticity adds depth to the performance, making it not just entertaining but also thought-provoking. Because what is a “bitch” really?
I recommend this performance to anyone seeking an entertaining evening, regardless of their familiarity with “Little House on The Prairie.” Arngrim’s act promises a delightful and entertaining experience. The 90-minute show, featuring mixed media elements like painted backdrops and vintage videos, flew by without a dull moment.
