The Buckeyes, led by quarterback Will Howard (319 yards, 3 touchdowns) and freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith (187 yards, 2 touchdowns), scored quickly, building a 34-0 lead by the second quarter.
Running back TreVeyon Henderson added two rushing touchdowns, including a 66-yard score. Oregon, undefeated until now, struggled offensively, with negative 23 rushing yards and seven sacks allowed.
Senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns in his final game, but the loss ended Oregon’s hopes for a national championship.
Ohio State’s victory sends them to the College Football Playoff Semifinal against Texas next week. For Oregon, the defeat marks a setback as they prepare for the 2025 season.
