Meet Some of MMP Headliners & their Music

Who are the performers and what does their music sound like? Here’s a list of the headliners.

      Surfer Blood

An American alternative rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida, signed to Warner Bros. Records. The band has four members: John Paul Pitts (lead vocals/guitar), Thomas Fekete (guitar/backing vocals), Kevin Williams (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Tyler Schwarz (drums).

Our Take: Awesome music. We hope they will pay attention to their official website. We are looking forward to hearing them live.

      Yuna

Yunalis Mat Zara’ai (Yuna) was born 14 November 1986 in Alor Setar, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is a singer, songwriter, and businesswoman.

Our Take: Her music is “a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay”. The announcement for her performance in Pasadena is hidden deep into her (great looking) website.

      Tennis

An American indie pop band from Denver made up of husband-and-wife duo Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley.

Our Take: Their Music is haunting and risky. We wish they get rid of the “introduction” page on their website.

      Saint Motel

An American four piece band from Los Angeles, whose music has been described as everything from “dream pop” to “indie prog”. Saint Motel consists of A/J Jackson (lead vocals/guitar), Aaron Sharp aka “a sharp” (lead guitar), Dak(bass), and Greg Erwin (drums).

Our Take: Confident yet gracious stage presence and a general suave work-the-room-ability. Their music is happily contagious. Great band. We wish they remove the intro page from their site.

      Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso is Amelia Randall Meath and Nick Sanborn. A Band.

Our Take: Electro Pop music. Need to say more? Website is simple and easy to surf. Not that much information on them out there. We hope to interview them soon.

      Andy Allo

Andy Allo was born January 13, 1989. She is a Cameroonian-born singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, model, and actress.

Our Take: Her music is reminiscent of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She skipped advertising about Make Music Pasadena on her website man page.

      Finish Ticket

An up and coming alternative/indie band from the San Francisco Bay area. Their lyrics are both memorable and expressive, and their songwriting talent is exceptional for such a young age.

Our Take: Their music combines melodic indie songwriting and catchy pop melodies to create a new take on the indie music scene. Good website once you pass their “enter the site” page.

      Run River North

Run River North, formerly known as Monsters Calling Home, is a Korean-American indie folk-rock band that consists of six Korean American musicians — Daniel Chae, 23, John Chong, 25, Jennifer Rim, 18, Sally Kang, 20, Joe Chun, 20, and 25-year-old Alex Hwang.

Our Take: Music is “Self-described as “gangster, folk, Oriental, Jesus”. Great looking modern website.

      She, Her, and I

From their website (there’s no Bio or About Us): “She, Her, and I is a vintage-meets-modern cocktail of tight harmonies, hot jazz, and big band and gypsy swing”.

Our Take: Good fun Music. Their Website has an “intro” page with music playing and it can not be stopped. If you click to enter the site, different kind of music starts playing and cannot be stopped either.
