Too often these days, the American flag shows up at rallies as a partisan symbol, wielded like a banner for one side of the political spectrum. That needs to stop. The flag is not a Republican emblem. It is not a Democratic one either. It is American, and it belongs to all of us.

When did we let a universal symbol of unity become a dividing line? The flag stands for the ideals this country was built on: freedom, justice, equality, not perfection, but the pursuit of a more perfect union. If those values still matter to you, no matter where you fall politically, then that flag is yours to carry.
We need to reclaim it. Show it at your rally, wave it at your protest, carry it at your march, whether you are advocating for climate justice, civil rights, veterans, fair elections, or economic reform. Loving your country does not mean agreeing with everything it does. It means caring enough to push it to be better.
So do not let anyone tell you the American flag does not represent you. It is not theirs to gatekeep. It is yours. It is ours. Own it.
