For Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, join the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library for a special screening of “Tequila Sunset,” a short film about a woman fighting caregiver burnout while caring for her husband experiencing memory loss.

After the film, stay for a discussion with the film’s director, Jinsui Song, and star, Cici Lau.
Jinsui Song is a Chinese filmmaker and editor based in Los Angeles. She recently graduated from the MFA Directing program at UCLA and holds a BFA in Screenwriting from Beijing Film Academy. Her work has been screened at the Cairo International Film Festival, CAAMFest, St. Louis International Film Festival, etc. Her filmmaking style combines tragic comedy and comedic tragedy to explore the complexity of human experiences and emotions.
Cici Lau won Mexico’s Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie “Los Robles” in 2021. For the short film “Tequila Sunset,” she won Best Leading Actress at DC Asian American Film Festival in 2023, and Best Performance at the Calgary FascinAsian Film Festival in 2024. Her recent TV credits are “Interior Chinatown,” “The Sympathizer,” and “Death and Other Details.” Her movie credits include “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 and Chapter 2” and “Babylon.”
