South Pasadena Police have apprehended a suspect following a reported theft from a motor vehicle on Meridian Avenue that resulted in the loss of over $10,000 worth of electronic equipment.

On the evening of October 18, at approximately 8:25 pm, South Pasadena police responded to a reported vehicle break-in on the 2000 block of Meridian Avenue. Witnesses saw the suspect fleeing the scene on an electric bicycle. Despite a prompt search, the suspect was not immediately located. Officers collected witness statements and reviewed surveillance footage to aid the investigation.
The following day, authorities tracked an attempted use of the victim’s stolen credit card to a convenience store in Los Angeles, where they arrested 57-year-old Ralph Maresca, an unhoused individual. During the arrest, Maresca was found in possession of additional stolen property from nearby jurisdictions, as well as narcotics.
Maresca, who has an extensive criminal history, now faces multiple charges, including grand theft, theft with prior convictions, and possession of narcotics with prior convictions. He is currently being held at Pasadena City Jail awaiting arraignment.
