Several talented students from South Pasadena High School (SPHS) have earned top honors in the Ericson Foundation Photography Competition, recognizing their exceptional work in the art of photography.

Out of 44 total students who participated, 24 SPHS students were selected as finalists. These finalists competed in a blind judging process, with their photographs evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges. The first, second, and third place winners were chosen by the judges, while other awards were determined by the Ericson Foundation Board members.
The following SPHS students emerged as winners:
- Taidi Yue – Best in Show 1st Place ($10,000)
- Dashiell Buettner Heller – Best in Show 2nd Place ($7,000)
- Saidbh Byrne – Best in Show 3rd Place ($5,000)
- Christine Xu – Winner of the “Things” category ($2,000)
- Kai Gallo – Winner of the “Abstract” category ($2,000)
These awards were part of the Ericson Foundation Photography Competition, sponsored in partnership with the PCC Foundation. The competition aimed to celebrate the photographic talents of public high school students in the Pasadena City College district area.
The winning photos will be displayed at the South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) Gallery, located at the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, from April 5 through May 31, 2025. The public is invited to attend the opening reception on April 5 at 3:00 pm to celebrate the students’ achievements.
The competition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not only the students but also their photography teacher, Rouzanna Berberian, who guided them throughout their artistic journey.
