The City of South Pasadena is inviting all residents to take an active role in shaping its Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget. Community participation is strongly encouraged as the City works to prioritize fiscal goals and maintain essential services that support quality of life for all.

The City’s annual budget serves as a key policy document, guiding financial decisions and outlining priorities for the year ahead. It ensures the continuation of core services and reflects the values of the community.
The budget development process includes a detailed analysis of current and projected fund balances, revenues, and expenditures. Each City department submits comprehensive budget plans, including service level recommendations and specific activity goals for the coming year. The Finance Department collaborates closely with other departments to forecast revenues accurately, while the City Manager reviews departmental proposals, aligns them with City Council policies, and makes necessary adjustments. The Proposed Budget is then presented at a public hearing for community review before being submitted to the City Council for final approval.
To ensure residents have a voice in this process, the City has launched a community survey, available online at this link or via the City’s homepage. Paper copies of the survey can also be found at all City counters. The deadline to complete the survey is April 20, 2025, at 6:00 pm.
In addition to the survey, the City will offer further opportunities for public engagement throughout the budgeting process.
For more information or questions about the budget or the survey, residents are encouraged to contact the Finance Department at finance@southpasadenaca.gov or call (626) 403-7250.
