Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis this week awarded over $1 million in First District Community Grants Program funding.

The Community Grant Program, established by Supervisor Solis in 2014, helps develop and support services that meet the diverse needs of First District residents in such key areas as arts, health, violence prevention, environmental justice, immigration, and education.
“I am honored to make these investments to partners who have offered promising solutions to achieve inclusive, systemic change,” said Supervisor Solis. “It is a testament to our collective commitment to build and increase community resilience. This funding will help them create an even greater impact on the lives of the thousands of youths and families they serve who rely on their free services and programs.”
The organizations that received funding from the First District Community Grants Program are:
- Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County
$500,000 for their Medical Debt Relief project - East Los Angeles Women’s Center
$250,000 for their Project Health initiative - Just Us 4 Youth
$150,000 for their Youth and Young Adult Employment Services program - Gloria Molina Grand Park
$100,000 to support their programming and operations - The Garage Board Shop
$15,000 to support their operations - Centro CSO
$15,000 to support their programming
This is the most recent in a series of awards granted to non-profit organizations and schools for community programming and services.
