Silent Sundays with live accompaniment on a 1924 Mighty Wurlitzer return to San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.

All showings are at 2:30 pm. Accompanying each film is organist Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. In addition to being an organist, he is principal timpanist for the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra.

- June 30: The Iron Mask starring Douglas Fairbanks
Starring the ‘King of Hollywood’ Douglas Fairbanks in his final silent film, it is a sequel to 1921’s The Three Musketeers (you don’t have to have seen the original film to enjoy this adventure drama). D’Artagnan (Fairbanks) and his fellow musketeers are on a mission to keep the French monarchy from falling into the hands of forces trying to usurp the throne. With two short spoken sequences, the film marks the first time Fairbanks’ voice is heard on the silver screen! - July 28: Fritz Lang’s The Complete Metropolis
Set in a futuristic urban dystopia, this film follows Freder, the wealthy son of Metropolis’ powerful ruler, and Maria, a poor worker, as they try to overcome the vast gulf separating the classes of their city. A must see for any sci-fi fan, Metropolis influenced pop culture and many sci-fi films thereafter. - September 29: Go West starring Buster Keaton
- October 13: Hot Water starring Harold Lloyd
