Compost Event
A free compost drop-off event will take place on April 26 at Sierra Vista Park from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Sierra Madre residents are invited to drop off trash, food scraps, organics, and other compostable materials. The event is limited to Sierra Madre residents only, and participants must bring valid ID or proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
The event is drive-up only—no walk-ups will be allowed. Residents are asked to bring their compost in sturdy containers or bins. Compost brought loosely in vehicles is discouraged but may be accepted under certain conditions. Please note that plastic bags and cardboard boxes will not be accepted.
Attendees are also advised to bring their own shovels, dollies, gloves, and eye protection for drop-off.
YMCA Renewal and Recognition
The Sierra Madre City Council renewed the city’s agreement with the YMCA, allowing continued use of the Aquatic Center and Recreation Center for community programming. Located at Sierra Vista Park, these facilities provide a range of amenities for both local and visiting residents, including a full-sized pool and gym. The YMCA also offers various youth and teen activities throughout the year
In addition, the City Council recognized the YMCA for their outstanding efforts following the January 7 Eaton Fire Disaster Relief and February rainstorms. The organization held multiple donation drives, collecting large quantities of food, clothing, pet supplies, toiletries, and other essentials for those affected by the Eaton Fire
The next Sierra Madre City Council meeting will be held on May 13.
