Senator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Pasadena) issued a heartfelt statement on the tragic death of 28-year-old Alhambra Police Officer Alec Sanders, who was killed in the line of duty during a high-speed pursuit on Nov. 20, 2025.

In her statement, Senator Pérez expressed deep sorrow and extended her condolences to Officer Sanders’ family, friends, and colleagues.
“Today, I join the community in mourning the loss of fallen Alhambra Police Officer Alec Sanders and send my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones,” Senator Pérez said. “This is a tragic loss of a young public servant who had just recently begun his position with the Alhambra Police Department, but who had already distinguished himself as the kind of reliable police officer who endeared himself to his fellow officers and to his community.”
Pérez, who served as the former Mayor of Alhambra, also highlighted the emotional toll the loss will have on the close-knit city. “As the former Mayor of Alhambra, I know the deep loss this will leave in our community, a community that stands together in times of loss and grief,” she said.
The senator urged the public to remember Officer Sanders’ unwavering dedication to his role in keeping the community safe. “I ask that we all remember and honor Officer Sanders, whose dedication to our community will not be forgotten,” Pérez added.
Officer Sanders, a new recruit with the Alhambra Police Department, was described as an officer who had already earned the respect and admiration of his peers. His death has left the city of Alhambra grieving the loss of a promising young public servant.
Funeral arrangements and memorial services for Officer Sanders are still being planned, with many community members expected to come together to honor his sacrifice.
