On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Senator Sasha Renée Pérez will announce a major state funding initiative aimed at repairing and expanding affordable housing at the Altadena Vista Senior Apartments, which were devastated by the Eaton Fire. The funding will specifically target repairs to the senior living complex, severely impacted during the catastrophic wildfire earlier this year.

The announcement coincides with the approach of the one-year anniversary of the deadly blaze, which displaced many elderly residents. On January 7, 2025, a ceremony will be held where a group of these residents will share their powerful stories of survival and heroism, recounting how they narrowly escaped the fire and the emotional toll it has taken on them and their families.
Senator Pérez’s funding initiative will not only focus on repairing the fire damage but will also include additional resources for expanding affordable housing in the area. This expansion is part of ongoing efforts to support the community’s recovery and ensure that residents, especially vulnerable seniors, have access to safe and stable housing in the aftermath of the disaster.
The Altadena Vista Senior Apartments were home to many elderly residents who endured profound trauma during the fire. The funding aims to alleviate some of this burden by providing critical infrastructure repairs and supporting long-term housing solutions. Additionally, Pérez’s office is working closely with local agencies to ensure that the expanded affordable housing options prioritize those most affected by the fire, including seniors and low-income families.
