The prestigious recognition highlights the dedication, passion, and commitment both teachers bring to their students and the broader San Gabriel Valley community.
Poladian, a first-grade teacher, and Sung, who teaches fourth grade, were nominated by students, colleagues, and community members. The award honors educators who go above and beyond to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders.
“Receiving this award serves as a testament and reminder that building meaningful relationships with students equates to impact,” said Poladian. “I see how the relationships I have built with my students do not come to a halt in June but continue after they leave my classroom.”
Poladian has been at Valentine for three years and previously taught for four years in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Sung, now in her fifth year at Valentine, brings prior experience from Carver Elementary and Arcadia Unified, where she served as an intervention specialist.
“I love teaching and give my all to it because I care deeply about the children in my classroom and the people they are becoming,” said Sung. “I have learned that children can soar and reach new heights when someone believes in them.”
Both teachers will be honored at an awards ceremony hosted by Assemblymember Fong on September 13, 2025.
The San Marino Unified School District expressed pride in the recognition of their educators, who continue to mentor and lead with heart, purpose, and excellence.
