The cancellation, which comes just as the event was set to unveil a new route and location, is a safety precaution for all participants and event staff. In a statement, the city explained that, while the community had been eagerly anticipating the race, the decision to cancel was made with everyone’s well-being in mind.
“We know everyone has been looking forward to an exciting race weekend, but this cancellation is in the best interest of all involved,” the statement read.
Registered participants will receive a full refund, which will be credited back to the card used for registration. The city also reassured participants that the Turkey Trot will return in 2026, with the next race scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026.
