On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at approximately 8:55 pm, a San Gabriel Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2015 Jeep. The driver of the Jeep failed to stop for the officer, which led to a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit by San Gabriel Police began in the City of San Gabriel and ended on the 2600 block of Charlotte in the City of Rosemead. The driver of the Jeep was struck by gunfire. There were no other occupants inside the car. Los Angeles County Fire personnel (Engine #4 and Squad #47) arrived to treat the driver. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The shooting involved two San Gabriel Police Officers. The California Department of Justice is leading the investigation. The San Gabriel Police Department is fully cooperating with the investigation.
San Gabriel Police Department indicated that “In an effort to maintain the integrity of the investigation, the San Gabriel Police Department is limited in the information it can share at this time. Every effort will be made to provide updates when feasible.”
