The event brought together community members, local officials, and students in a shared moment of remembrance and reflection. Attendees enjoyed a musical performance by the Jefferson Middle School Chamber Strings, followed by a moving rendition of “Taps” performed by a Gabrielino High School trumpeter.
At the heart of the ceremony was the unveiling of the Field of Heroes at Plaza Park—a powerful visual display of 200 American flags. Each flag honors the memory of a U.S. veteran or service member who made the ultimate sacrifice. The display will remain open to the public through May 27.
Distinguished guests, including Congresswoman Judy Chu, State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, and Assemblymember Mike Fong, joined the community in paying their respects.
Together, the City of San Gabriel and the Veterans Memorial Coalition created a meaningful space for remembrance, unity, and gratitude. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who serve—and have served—to safeguard America’s freedoms.
