Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) sharply criticized President Donald Trump on social media, condemning his recent military actions in Venezuela. In a statement, the Congresswoman expressed deep concern over the president’s decision to bomb the country and arrest its leader, Nicolás Maduro, without consulting Congress or providing any explanation to the American public.

“This action was taken without any explanation to the American people and without authorization from Congress,” Chu wrote. “Americans do not want another foreign regime change war launched in secret and without accountability.”
The statement follows reports of a sudden U.S. military operation in Venezuela, which led to the bombing of key sites and the arrest of President Maduro. Critics have questioned the legality and ethics of the operation, which appears to bypass Congressional approval for military action, a requirement established by the U.S. Constitution.
Rep. Chu, a staunch advocate for Congressional oversight of military operations, warned of the broader global consequences of Trump’s actions. “Trump is setting a dangerous precedent by signaling to the world that it is acceptable for countries to unilaterally overthrow sovereign leaders,” she cautioned.
The Congresswoman’s remarks reflect increasing concern over what she sees as a weakening of democratic checks and balances in U.S. foreign policy. She is urging Congress to take swift action to “rein in this administration” and prevent the U.S. from becoming entangled in another “endless, unauthorized war.”
