On Monday December 21, 2022, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) announced the winners of the 2022 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in the West San Gabriel Valley.

This annual computer science competition, hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives, encourages students to learn how to code and inspires them to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.
Rep. Chu issued the following statement:
I was thrilled to host my fourth Annual Congressional App Challenge Competition and to highlight the increasing importance of STEM education in our country. STEM fields are becoming more valuable for our nation’s youth, and their success in learning to code and program will help ensure our nation remains at the forefront of global technological advancements. All our submissions came from talented young coders who worked together to offer solutions to problems facing the world. I’m proud of everyone who participated in the competition, and congratulations in particular to the winners.
Winners
- First Place: PCPosture by Jeff Chen
- Second Place: EduParty by Drexel Ngo, Evan Lau, Athicha Chanpradub, and Alina Ramos
- Third Place: Lexi – The World’s Messenger by Lewis Polansky and Evi Shih
- Honorable Mention: Alter by Alvin Fu, Adrian Trinh and Kevin Zhen
- Honorable Mention: The Lexical App by Kepha Sher, Joseph Santhosh, and Serkan Salik.
A panel of expert local judges chose the winners based on the app’s purpose, concept, technicality, creativity, and design. The winning app, PCPosture, will be displayed on the Congressional App Challenge Website and on a digital display in the Capitol Building.
