The community is invited to register and compete in 18 athletic events. Last year, over 1,100 participants ranging from 50 to 100 years old took part. This year’s games will take place from Saturday, May 17, to Sunday, June 29, at various venues across Southern California. Previous competition experience is not required, and athletes of all skill levels are welcome.
“Every year the Pasadena Senior Games promotes healthy lifestyles for older adults through education, fitness and the spirited competition of sports,” said Akila Gibbs, executive director of the Pasadena Senior Center. “These remarkable athletes are shining examples of the benefits of an active lifestyle that embraces health and vitality.”
Research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that older adults can enjoy numerous benefits from physical activity, including improved physical, emotional, and social health, as well as a reduced risk of hospitalization.
