Quick action by Pasadena Fire Department’s Engine 38 prevented a potentially serious fire at Vallarta Market on North Fair Oaks Avenue, after firefighters happened to be passing by at just the right moment.

While driving past the market, Engine 38’s crew heard the store’s fire alarm and observed customers evacuating the building. Without delay, the team entered the store and discovered a fire in the kitchen area.
Firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish the flames, successfully preventing the fire from spreading into the attic, a move that likely spared the building from major damage.
As a precaution, Vallarta Market was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The kitchen will remain closed pending a standard Health Department inspection. No injuries were reported.
Authorities commend the crew for their rapid response and decisive action, which helped protect both the public and the property.
