The forum, titled “Public Education Funding 101,” will take place on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30 pm at James Madison Elementary School.
The event aims to break down the complexities of public education funding and provide an opportunity for local residents to understand how financial resources are allocated within the school district. Attendees will also learn about advocacy strategies to drive change at both the local and state levels.
“Public education is the backbone of our future, but we face many fiscal challenges that affect how our schools operate,” said Scott Harden. “This forum is a chance for the community to come together, learn about the current funding landscape, and discuss how we can advocate for more sustainable and equitable funding.”
Key Panelists Include:
- Elizabeth Blanco, Superintendent of PUSD (Pasadena Unified School District), who will provide an overview of the district’s current financial situation and its impact on educational programs.
- Patrick Cahalan, Former Board of Education Member and fiscal policy analyst, who will offer insights into the broader state of public education funding and fiscal policy.
- Representatives from State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez’s office, who will give an update on how the proposed state budget may affect PUSD and other local school districts in the coming year.
The forum promises to be an engaging and informative evening, providing residents with the knowledge they need to take action and advocate for a stronger public education system.
Residents are encouraged to RSVP for the event to ensure adequate seating and participation.
