POETS SALON
– 6/12/19
Hosted by Kath Abela Wilson
My second husband liked plain dress. I always liked to please him. 25 years later he was gone. My third husband–my best friend. By chance, soon after we married, my first husband’s sister saw a current photo of me and wrote “you haven’t changed a bit”.

second wind
flowers
bloom again

Alegria Imperial
peeling night
off closed fingers…
the orange moon unfurls
her hand abloom
with young stars

Taura Scott
jeweled memories
packed for the move
a diamond flower
morphs into
a butterfly

Giselle Maya
Campanules
white bellflowers
i have longed to see in bloom
with abundant rain
they have unfolded–
inspired, i paint with papers
Again i find the thread, at first invisible, Glue, Brush, manifold colored Papers, some handmade, some found some pigment-painted, composing Collages, they bloom again, follow each other in hue and theme, every small paper element scissored, added onto a wooden surface, finding attractions, relationships among colors, textures within the composition considering the places i have seen, making a whole of impressions, finding long saved papers helping to shape and align them in a fresh way
les papiers qui s’aiment,
I look out the window
at a magical rainbow

Reblooming: Quotes and Credits
Shanna Baldwin went to Pasadena City College, lived in La Canada, and came to Hawaii 48 years ago for a vacation. She is still on vacation.
Alegria Imperial tells us: “Where I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, spans of sky especially at night never fail to overwhelm me. Nothing new in how I feel though; as a child, my nannies entertained me with tales about the heavens when my mother came home late in the evenings. I suppose, I haven’t really outgrown such fascination though now in adulthood, it’s often tinged with sadness. This must be from where my tanka blossomed.” Before moving to Vancouver, she earned a degree in literature and journalism from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila where Alegria Imperial worked in government, education, culture, and journalism. She currently publishes in many international journals.
Taura Scott recently migrated to Monrovia, California with the Painted Ladies. She spends her free time writing tanka and talking to stray cats in the neighborhood.
Giselle Maya muses: “Here we have some rain today, I am pleased to see and hear rain, as I had to water the garden with the ‘goutte à goutte’ hoses (drop by drop system) I am working in short spurts of my collage-paintings, writing, clipping roses, planting beans, etc. etc., endless tasks quite agreeable. Reblooming, yes, in spring one always reblooms, nourished by snowpeas, strawberries, cherries.” Giselle writes to us from St. Martin de Castillon, France.
