a red star
underfoot
and night
so soon to fall
a little longer lovehe wove a ring
of white clover to begin
to save the time
and in deep space
a deep sweetness~ Kath Abela

first date…
I know I’m in love
when I discover
I’ve never even touched
my jelly donut
That Magic Moment
Last night, I picked up a pencil and a sheet of paper, thought for a minute, about the donut, the coffee shop counter where I sat swiveled to my right staring, lovestruck, into the eyes of this young woman. My heart so full of butterflies I cannot even think of eating. I put the pencil and paper back down without drawing a line, knowing I could never capture the thrill of that moment in black and white.
she was married
but she leaves her husband
to marry me…
seven years later
she leaves me too

Valentine’s Day 2021
The sky is layered
Like a delicate parfait
Colors blend subtly
The palette is perfect
All senses are satisfied
I gratefully accept
Nature’s Valentine’s gift
