Devin Harrison, a resident of Pasadena, recently won the Akita (Japan) International University President Award for Haiku. A teacher and ardent traveler, he has taught in Thailand, Mexico and Colombia and lives part-time in the Philippines.

Alegria Imperial
steeped in sunset
our eyes on each other
drink wine—
once bitter to the taste
now vaguely honeyed dew
After earning a degree in literature and journalism from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Alegria Imperial worked in government, education, culture, and journalism. She migrated to Vancouver, BC, Canada where she currently publishes in many international journals.
