      POETRY CORNER

      – 6/29/16

      Hosted by Kathabela Wilson

As soon as we came back from China and Japan, we resumed hosting meetings and salons for poets and artists at our home in Pasadena, CA. We call our living room “The Living Room Gallery, ” and welcome many solo shows by artists here. Our friend Chris Wesley had a wonderful show up for only a weekend at the Alkebulan Cultural Center. We had yet seen it, so we invited him to hang it here. Chris calls his show “The Journey Back to Bliss“. He creates character studies through his “expressionist photographs.” Chris says ‘In real life I’ve used art as a way of celebrating life’s joys and processing its traumas.’ He creates fictional characters who express their stories through his photos. in our Poetry Corner today we have real poets responding to those same photos!

      Taura Scott

      I thrill
      to the mad sway
      the seat on top
      keeps time
      with each heartbeat

Taura Scott, often called “Tanka Taura,” by locals, lives in Pasadena, CA. She found a special bliss in climbing Ferris Wheels as a child and still feels the same thrill.

      in a picture
      dragonflies land on cosmos…
      as i focused
      i realized my bliss
      was always there to take

Pat Geyer lives in East Brunswick, NJ, USA. A gardener who started writing poems in high school, then changing her focus a bit, she became an amateur photographer. She was in the midst of photographing her favorite subject, dragonflies, when she came to this “cosmic” realization.

      Gerry Jacobson

      I filled my lungs
      with seven weeks
      of life –
      the open road
      the open circle

Gerry Jacobson lives in Canberra, Australia. He recently spent some weeks in Stockholm, Sweden, blissfully watching his four month old granddaughter as she entered her fifth month. His sense of the openness of life widened and deepened.
