      POETRY CORNER

      John Stevenson

      winter mountains
      in the conversation
      as a listener

John Stevenson was traveling by train between his home near Albany, NY and San Francisco. A lone traveler on a cross-country train meets new people at every meal and there is a tendency to tell stories that illustrate how big and important we all are. But, in the mountains, the conversation often turns to mountains.

      Devin Harrison

      between a thought
      and this darkening sky
      sometimes a deer

Devin Harrison lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He spends time following trails through parts of the rain forest.

      Alice Pero

      Today excited birds
      skipped and chirped
      in the rain
      to my ecstatic
      chatter

Alice Pero blends easily into the landscape where she lives in Sunland-Tujunga, between the desert wash and her bird-filled backyard. She is dedicated to making it rain.
